Marcus Hinkle

Physical Therapist

Marcus opened the Topflight clinic at the beginning of 2014. He is originally from Illinois where he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois. He then attended Emory University where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree graduating with honors. Marcus wrestled at the collegiate level and continues to actively participate in sports medicine. He has certifications in dry needling and Neurac treatment by Redcord. Dr. Hinkle is the first certified Neurac practitioner in Indiana.

Let me start with a simple statement, “Marcus is the best when it comes to physical therapy”! I have had knee and shoulder surgery in the last two years. After each surgery Marcus laid out a plan for my recovery and he told me exactly what I could expect as each week passed. Marcus has a very positive attitude and his work ethic is to be admired. There were times when I would be struggling both physically and mentally but after a session with Marcus I left knowing I was going to be back to normal soon. If you do what Marcus says you will get better, I promise! I hope that I do not need therapy again because it is a long drive from Atlanta to Indiana. I consider Marcus a good friend and I will miss him.

Due to unforeseen complications, I was facing surgery to have a 6-year old total knee replacement redone and I also needed the other knee replaced. My surgeon and I knew that full range of motion was not going to be possible on the knee being redone because the first knee replacement would only allow my knee to bend a total on 22 degrees. The limitation impacted my quality of life. I was in constant pain and it was time for a change. My surgeon decided the initial knee replacement had to be done first in order to get good recovery on the other knee. I knew I had a long road in front of me. When it was time for physical therapy, Marcus was strongly recommended. The first 2-3 weeks of physical therapy were the toughest I have ever had to endure. But, Marcus was there every painful, slow step. He was supportive and patient, but also persistent. He would not give up and he convinced me not to give up either. Even after my insurance coverage ended, I kept going once a week at my own expense to make sure the knee was strong enough to get me through the next round of surgery. I gained more range of motion than even the surgeon thought would be possible. There was no question as to where I was going to physical therapy following the next replacement. I told me surgeon I wanted to get started with Marcus for PT as soon as possible. The day the staples came out, I had my first PT visit. I am happy to say I am almost 4 months out from the total knee replacement on the other knee and my recovery has been remarkable. I have been working with Marcus every week for the better part of a year. I have observed Marcus treat patients from teens to the elderly; treating everything from minor sprains to serious car accident recovery. His knowledge and care is absolutely the best. He gets to know each patient and their particular injury. He explores what works best for that patient and not only gives the instructions on what to do, but explains why. If you need physical therapy, there is no other place to go! Thanks for everything Marcus!!
